Camille L. "Cam" Leger, 97, of Gardner, died peacefully Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at Gardner Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, after a period of declining health.
Born in Sackville, New Brunswick, Canada, on February 16, 1929, he was the son of the late Matthias "Mack" and Edna (Leger) Leger. Prior to immigrating to the United States, Cam was employed by Simons Cigar Company in Montreal from 1947 to 1953. After settling in the United States, he was drafted into the United States Army, proudly serving during the Korean Era from 1954 to 1956. Following his honorable discharge, Cam worked for many years at GEM Industries in Gardner, and later as a custodian at Heywood Hospital, where he was employed for 27 years until his retirement.
Cam was a devoted parishioner of Annunciation Parish of Gardner, where he was an active member of the choir and the Adoration Chapel. In his leisure time, he enjoyed playing cards and watching soccer and golf. He also cherished trips into Boston, where he attended Boston Pops concerts and various theatre performances. Above all, Cam found his greatest happiness in the time he spent with his family and friends, treasuring the many memories they shared.
Cam is survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his six brothers, John, Edward, Roy, Hector, Loren, and Fred Leger; and four sisters, Elise Landry, Phyllis McFee, Ina Arsenault, and Mary LeBlanc.
