Bertha M. (Guimond) Blanchard, 91, of Gardner, died peacefully Tuesday, January 23, 2018 in Gardner Rehabilitation and Nursing Center of Gardner, following a brief illness.
Born in Richibucto, NB Canada on May 13, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Theodore and Leona (Doucette) Guimond.
Bertha was employed in the housekeeping department of Wachusett Manor Nursing Home of Gardner for 15 years, retiring in 1986. Years ago she and husband owned a restaurant in Canada named 'Blanchard's Diner'.
She was a member of Annunciation Parish/Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church of Gardner.
Bertha loved gardening. She had a green thumb like no other, and took great pride in her flowers. She enjoyed shopping, dancing and spending time with her family.
She was predeceased by her husband of 48 years, John B. Blanchard, who died in 1997.
Bertha leaves four daughters, Yvonne M. Mitko and her husband Leonard of Gardner, Doris M. Craigue and her husband William of Leominster, Betty Ann Laliberte and her husband Roger of Gardner, and Cynthia M. Bundy and her husband Gabriel of Gardner; three sons, Alyre J. Blanchard and his wife Patty of Westminster, Vincent J. Blanchard of Gardner, and Vernon Guimond and his wife Rose May of Bouctouche, NB Canada; three brothers, Edgar Guimond and his wife Edmee of Richibucto, NB Canada, Tim Guimond and his wife Rosaline of Richibucto, NB Candada, and Ernest Guimond and his wife Albertine of St. Charles, NB Canada; one sister, Eva M. Daigle of St. John, NB Canada; seven grandchildren, Matthew, Amy, John, Dianne, Daniel, Lise and Nicole; six great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by three brothers, Alcide, Delore and Frank Guimond; and three sisters, Alice Daigle, Rita Leger and Jeannette Mazerolle.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 27th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 12:00 p.m. in Annunciation Parish/Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, West Street, Gardner at a later date.
Calling hours will be held Saturday, January 27th from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
