Arthur J. Fredette, 81, of 43 Battles St., Leominster, died Tuesday in The Highlands, Fitchburg, following an illness.
Born in Fitchburg on September 18, 1922, he was the son of Arthur J. and Albertine (Bernatchez) Fredette.
He was a technician employed by New England Telephone Co. for 20 years until his retirement in 1983. He was previously a carpenter employed by various local companies.
He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and A.A.R.P.
Mr. Fredette was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and received the Good Conduct Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon.
He leaves his wife of 58 years, Rita M. (Delisle) Fredette of Leominster; 2 sons, Richard A. Fredette of Leominster and Gerard N. Fredette of Sacramento, CA; 2 daughters, Elaine L. Goguen and Joanne E. Blood, both of Westminster; 2 brothers, Henry Fredette and Norman Fredette, both of Fitchburg; 2 sisters, Blanche Spano of Gardner and Irene Clouthier of Manchester, NH; 13 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner. Deacon Roderick Cashes of St. Edward the Confessor Church, Westminster, will officiate.
Burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Fitchburg, will be at a later date.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Saturday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m.
