Obituary

Anita P. (Roach) Cormier, 84, of Worcester, formerly a longtime resident of Gardner, died peacefully Friday, October 2, 2026, in Lutheran Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center of Worcester, after a period of declining health.

She graduated from Gardner High School with the Class of 1960 and later continued her education at Mount Wachusett Community College, where she earned an Associate Degree. Anita was a secretary employed by the Montachusett Regional Planning Commission for many years until her retirement.

Anita was a parishioner of Annunciation Parish of Gardner, where she was formerly an active member of the church choir. She enjoyed keeping busy with knitting and crocheting and took great pride in the things she created. Anita was also an animal lover and held a special place in her heart for the many dogs she had throughout her life. Above all, her family was her greatest pride and joy. She treasured the time spent with her children and grandchildren and the many special memories they created together throughout the years.

Anita is survived by her two sons, Doug A. Cormier and his wife, Joanne, of Hubbardston, and James M. Cormier and his wife, Michelle, of Fitchburg; four grandchildren, Macy Woodard, Logan Cormier, Olivia Cormier, and Ava Cormier; and many extended family members.

She was predeceased by her husband, Alan H. Cormier, who died in 1980.
