Andrew Williams Jr., 78, of Gardner, died unexpectedly on Sunday, January 14, 2024, in his home.
Born in Flint, Michigan, on January 22, 1945, he was the son of the late Louis and Ruth Harris. He graduated from Central High School with the Class of 1964 and received a bachelor’s degree from Detroit College and an electrical certificate. Andrew played in the Minor Football league for 3 years following college. After graduating, Andrew would work for Buick Manufacturing.
Andrew was a United States Army Vietnam and Persian Gulf War Veteran serving from 1972 till his retirement in 1992, where he received the Army Commendation Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Achievement Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Southeast Asia Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, Overseas Service Ribbon, Kuwait Liberation Medal with Palm, Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Service Star, and the Good Conduct Medal.
Andrew enjoyed roller skating, bowling, playing scratch tickets, taking trips to the casino, and watching football. Andrew’s non-commissioned officer training always played a part in his interactions with family and friends, telling others what to do. Through it all, family was his greatest joy treasuring time spent together.
Andrew is survived by his life-partner, Cynthia Brown of Gardner; two sons, Jack Brown of Gardner and Brian Williams of Gardner; a daughter, Regina Brown of Gardner; six grandchildren, Julian, Brian Jr., Devante, Leeyontre, Jack Jr., and Leilah; a great-grandchild, Ryder; a sister, Valeria Moss of Indianapolis, IN; a niece, Janeice Moss.
Graveside Services with Military Honors will be held Monday, January 29, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon, MA.
