Obituary

Aline M. (Richard) Leger, 95, of Gardner, died peacefully Sunday, October 4, 2026, in her home surrounded by her children, after a period of declining health.

Born in Sainte-Anne-de-Kent, New Brunswick, Canada, on March 7, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Ben and Eva (Bourgeois) Richard.

Aline enjoyed listening to Acadien music and spending time in the kitchen, where cooking was one of her favorite pastimes-especially during Christmastime, when she loved preparing traditional Canadian foods for her family. She also enjoyed watching television, tending to her garden, and keeping up with current events and what was happening throughout the world. Traveling was another special part of her life, particularly the trips she shared with her husband. Together, they made yearly visits to New Brunswick and enjoyed traveling to Montreal and Florida, creating many cherished memories along the way.

Aline is survived by her daughter, Maria Dube and her husband Paul of Gardner; three sons, Donald Leger and his wife Laurie of Orange, John Leger and his wife Jean of Gardner, and Paul Leger of Gardner; five grandchildren, Donna Fleming of Gardner, Daniel Leger and his significant other, Tanya, of Notre Dame, New Brunswick, Canada, Jodi Wilder and her husband Matt of Westminster, Shaun Dube and his wife Alicia of Templeton, and Kristina Gallant and her husband Bruce of Winchendon; nine great-grandchildren, Jamie, Riley, Addison, Tanner, Ella, Becket, Charlie, Brock, and Kendall; one great-great-grandchild, Nori; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was predeceased by her husband of 72 years, Alfred Leger, who died in 2025. She was also predeceased by two brothers, Joseph and Alyre Richard; three sisters Aldea, Anita, and Julliette Richard.

Aline's family would like to extend a special and heartfelt thank you to Dr. Ryan, the Visiting Nurses, and Hospice for the exceptional compassion, kindness, and care they provided to Aline and the family.
