Alan Stuart

May 19, 1962 — June 10, 2021

Alan Edward Stuart, 59, of West Palm Beach, Florida, died peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, June 10, 2021, while fulfilling his dream of hiking the Appalachian Trail.

Born in Boston on May 19, 1962, he was the son of the late Donald E. Stuart, former President of Temple Stuart Co., and Joan E. Teed. Alan graduated from Gardner High School with the Class of 1980 and received a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from the University of New Hampshire in 1984, where he studied Economics and Finance. Alan was employed for 33-years at Toys "R" Us, starting as an Assistant Store Manager and eventually rising through the ranks to become its Director of Store Operations. Alan loved his time at Toys "R" Us and treated everyone there as his own family.

Alan’s true passion was the sport of swimming; he was a member of the State Champion Gardner High School Swim Team and a member of the University of New Hampshire Swim Team. He was a member of USA Swimming and coached the Aqua Gems Swim Club. Alan assisted Head Coach Ron Olsen in establishing a nationally respected club, which sent athletes to Division 1 College programs and the Olympic Trials. Alan was a member of the First-Year Innovation and Research Experience (FIRE) Program at the University of New Hampshire. He was also a member of the Thru-Hikers Program through the Appalachian Trail Conservancy.

Alan lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed hiking, swimming, and reading. He loved learning new facts about history and working on his family's genealogy. Alan was a people person, always willing to lend a hand or solve a problem. He was truly a life coach for many. But the time that he loved and cherished the most was spent with his family.

Alan is survived by his wife of 29-years, Shelley (Jacques) Stuart of West Palm Beach, FL; two sons, Alexander Philip Stuart and his significant other Erikka of Los Angeles, CA, and Ian Donald Stuart of West Palm Beach, FL; a daughter Ansley Teed Nolasco and her husband Erwin of New York City, NY; two brothers, Bryan Stuart and his wife Deborah of The Woodlands, TX, and John Phillip Stuart and his wife Karen of Austin, TX; his step-mother Elissa "Dolly" Stuart of Ashby, MA; two step-brothers, Shawn Dooley and his wife Hakson of Harker Heights, TX, and Scott Dooley of Ashby, MA; an aunt, Joan Damon of Nashua, NH; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
