Teresa E. (LaPlante) LeBlanc

July 22, 1933 ~ June 29, 2018 (age 84)

Teresa E. (LaPlante) LeBlanc, 84, of Fitchburg, formerly of Orange, died peacefully Friday, June 29, 2018 in Fitchburg Healthcare of Fitchburg.

            Born in New York City, NY on July 22, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Arthur J. and Marianna (Ouellette) LaPlante.

            Teresa graduated from Thornton Academy of Saco, Maine with the Class of 1950, and later attended Cape Cod Community College of West Barnstable, MA.

            She was employed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a Forest Ranger for Shawme-Crowell State Forest in Sandwich, MA.  She was previously a Supervisor and Account Manager in the Security Department of the Canal Generating Plant in Sandwich for 20 years.

            Teresa was a member of Annunciation Parish/Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church of Gardner. She was also a member of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary Post 102 of Athol and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 747 of Gardner.   

            Teresa enjoyed cooking, arts and crafts, gardening and playing Bingo. She loved scratch tickets and spending time at Foxwoods. In her earlier years, she took great pleasure ice skating, singing in the church choir and partaking in musicals. Her greatest passion was singing, and at the age of 17 she became a member of “Sweet Adelines International”, a worldwide organization of women barbershop harmony singers.

            Teresa was predeceased by her husband of 10 years, Roger J. Leblanc who died in 2014.

            She leaves two sons, Bruce Hanson and his wife Linda of Maine, and Richard Michaud and his wife Angel of Maine; one daughter, Susan Durham of Fitchburg; one brother, Peter LaPlante; two sisters, Linda Haskins and Lana Montbreand; nine grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Teresa was predeceased by one brother, Roger LaPlante; and two sisters, Elizabeth Sherwood and Barbara Nelson. Teresa leaves in memory her ‘big black boots”.

            Funeral Services and burial will be held Thursday, July 5th at 2:00 p.m. in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon.

            In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
