Roland Donald Mailloux Sr., 91, of Baldwinville, formerly of Gardner, died peacefully, Wednesday, September 25, 2019 in Alliance Health at Baldwinville following a long illness.
Born in Gardner on August 5, 1928, he was the son of the late Alphee and Alice (Valois) Mailloux. Roland served in the United States Army from 1948 to 1952 where he received the Good Conduct Medal. He worked for the John E. Cain Company, owning and operating “Landy’s” Cain’s Potato Chip Franchise. He later became a route salesman for Bachman Snack Products until retiring in 1988 due to illness. After his retirement he kept South Gardner looking beautiful with a bottle and can redemption hobby.
He was a member of Holy Spirit Church, Knights of Columbus Council #396, Napoleon Club, and Beagle Club all of Gardner. He was an exceptional candlepin bowler, he enjoyed making poutines at Christmas time and playing cards. Roland was an avid sports fan especially of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots but his most treasured time was spent with family.
Roland leaves his sons, Roland D. “Landy” Mailloux, Jr. (Joanne) of Gardner, Raymond A. Mailloux (Maria “Lilett”) of Athol, and Donald R. Mailloux of Sterling; daughters, Michele C. McMahon (Gary) of Harwich, Phyllis M. Kemp (Michael) of Gardner, and Jeanne A. Tencati (Dennis) of Gardner; brothers, Robert Mailloux of Gardner and Roger Mailloux of FL; sister, Pauline Tatro of Gardner; grandchildren, Lori Phinney, Gregory Mailloux, Stephan McMahon, Scott McMahon, Heather Edouard, Trisha Dursa, Elizabeth Goldstein, David Kemp, Aaron Butler and Evan Butler; seventeen great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife and caretaker of 67 years Jeannine A. (Girouard) Mailloux who died September 14, 2019 ; a sister, Therese Twing; a grandson; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, October 1st from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc. 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Spirit Church, 50 Lovewell Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours will be held Monday, September 30th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
