George J. Braun, 85, of Baldwinville, died peacefully Saturday, August 24, 2019 in Alliance Health at Baldwinville. George was born in Stafford Springs, CT on September 29, 1933, the son of the late Joseph and Margaret (Slater) Braun. He graduated from Templeton High School with the Class of 1950; and was a member of Holy Cross Church of Templeton and the Otter River Sportsman’s Club of Templeton. George was a United States Korean War Veteran, who served from 1953 through 1957.
He was owner/operator of Braun’s Friendly Forest of Gardner, currently known as Valley Florist, for many years.
George enjoyed fishing, playing cards and racing his cars. He loved spending time vacationing on Lake Champlain, Vermont.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Nancy (Collamore) Braun who died in 1987; and by his former second wife, Linda Basso-Braun.
George leaves his son, Kevin C. Braun and his wife Christine of San Francisco, CA; daughters, Kimberly J. Rad of Worcester, Karen Boudreau of Gardner and Kelley Ziemke of Athol; daughter-in-law, Ellen Braun of Baldwinville; seventeen grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sons, Greg and James Braun; and sister, Edith Lafortune.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, August 30th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Cross Church, 25 Lake Avenue, Templeton. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery, West Street, Gardner.
A calling hour will be held Friday, August 30th from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
