Normand, a third-generation native of Gardner graduated from Gardner High School in 1955, Becker Junior College in Worcester with a degree in Business and Accounting in 1957 and later attended Clark University. For the next 21 years he supported his family as an accountant for a large electrical contracting business in Worcester. In 1978, he decided it was an opportune time for him to pursue his lifelong dream of becoming a funeral director.

From 1978 to 1980 while serving his two-year apprenticeship with Mr. George Dufault, he attended night classes at New England Institute of Applied Arts & Sciences in Boston, graduating with honors in 1980. In 1982 his dream became a reality when Mr. Dufault sold him the business. Normand's civic and community involvement did not begin with his transition into becoming a funeral director. His sincere passion for helping people began when he was old enough to assist on a committee or to serve on a board.

He is currently a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church. He is a member and was past president of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, member and treasurer of the League of the Sacred Heart Society, member and past director of the Greater Gardner Chamber of Commerce, former member and past director of the Gardner Rotary Club, former director of the GFA Credit Union, member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 747 of Gardner, 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council 396 of Gardner, member of the American Legion Post 129 of Gardner, member of the Templeton Fish & Game Club, Inc., member and past director of the Acadien Social Club.
